- Nations are obligated to provide Quality Education that produces good Results, says Law Professor Hadi Strømmen Lile

Christians and other idealistic environments in the West and the global South are fighting to give their young people high level education that is in line with their fundamental values, but they often face opposition from governments that want to streamline education without respecting these fundamental values.  

In this insightful conversation with Jan-Aage in Insight with Pastor Torp, Dr Hadi Strømmen Lile who is a professor of Law at Østfold University of Applied Sciences (OUAS) in Norway, underscores thet nations are obligated to provide quality education that produces good results. 

Dr Hadi is ethnically half Sami and half Persian, and belongs to the Bahai´i faith. He is one of the foremost spokesmen for Sami rights in the world.

- Christians have historically been very determined to provide excellent education for their younger generations, says the professor, and gives Harvard University as an example.

Jan-Aage asks Dr Hadi how these high standards apply in concrete situations:

- So what would a realistic minimum standard actually look like in a low-income state like Burundi? Should we set a different, more achievable benchmark for them, or should the same global standard apply to every nation regardless of their resources?

- Norway is one of the richest countries in the world, yet do we still have examples here where these minimum educational standards are not being met, for instance in certain schools or among specific groups of students?

- What about Sami schools or Sami-speaking students specifically? Are they also facing challenges in meeting these international educational standards?
